This is the true story of 31 everyday American teenagers who biked across the country in 1982, sharing the journey of a lifetime and a transformative summer. These “Spokesmen of America” experienced a summer filled with endless miles of biking, intense challenges, mishaps, antics, personal discovery, and tragedy. The kids raised money and advocated for Multiple Sclerosis. Still, as adults, they’ve faced other life challenges, including diseases like AIDS, Cancer, and Parkinson’s, pushing them to draw upon the lessons of the ride. With humor, refreshing realism, and clarity, this 4 part episodic documentary celebrates the unstoppable optimism of youth and considers how the shadow of that summer resonates through the challenges of their lives.
