Dream Trips: Bella Coola | Season Pass Ep. 4

Freeskiers Amie Engerbretson and Tyler Ceccanti head to the central coast of British Columbia and its hidden gem, the Bella Coola Valley. A 70-minute flight north of Vancouver, it’s home to the world’s best heli-ski operator, Bella Coola Heli Sports. Bella Coola accesses 3.25 million acres of terrain in the remote Coast Mountains. With the longest run topping out at 7,000 feet, the scale here is almost as unfathomable as the stability of the snowpack. Wet, coastal snow sticks to everything, so that super steep run looming off in the distance is 100% skiable if you’re up for it. Tyler trained all year for the opportunity to ski Bella Coola’s massive terrain and makes good use of it crushing the line of his life. On down days from skiing, Bella Coola offers wilderness encounters from grizzly bears to Icelandic horses and, of course, the scenery’s not bad either.
