Outdoors, it's best to assume that no water is safe to drink. Luckily, purifying water is easy, and the equipment you need to do it is pretty cheap. Here, Wes Siler walks through his favorite options: the MSR WindBurner stove ($150), the MSR TrailShot filter ($45), and a bottle of Potable Aqua tablets ($7). You can also just use plain iodine, or even bleach, if you don't mind the taste.
