Morgane Charre in Gampel, Switzerland

Professional mountain biker Morgane Charre is all about getting outdoors and going on adventures. When she isn't racing in the Enduro World Series, Morgane is out exploring the mountains around her base in the Alps. Just a short drive from home, over the border into Switzerland, is the canton of Valais, a sun-blessed valley of dreams for mountain sports enthusiasts and home to the iconic Matterhorn mountain. Late last winter, before Europe went into lockdown, Morgane headed to Gampel to get some laps of the mountain using its tiny gondola that runs year-round for access to people's homes, as well as quality skiing, hiking and mountain biking options. This is just one of Valais' many incredible places to ride with public transport to the top. With international race events largely rescheduled or cancelled, Morgane will spend the next few months discovering more of the best, often overlooked mountain biking trails and destinations across the Alps, from those on her doorstep in La Clusaz, France, to multi-day efforts linking iconic peaks and places further afield.
