What It Takes - Hillary Gerardi and 90K du Mont Blanc

"In the spirit of this week’s UTMB® Mont Blanc race, excited to share a new piece of content following Black Diamond Equipment athlete Hillary Gerardi dig deep as she races 90 kilometers through the mountains of Chamonix. Switching gears from shorter distances to a straight-up gnarly 90K ultra through the technical mountains of Chamonix is an admirable feat. But to win? That’s a tall order. Hillary Gerardi completed the famous 110K Haute Route in a blistering 26 hours with her partner Valentine Fabre—in turn establishing the fastest female time for the route—Hillary felt ready to make the jump into ultra-distances. The “What it Takes” follows Hillary racing the 90K du Mont-Blanc. With roughly 6,000 meters of vertical gain packed into a technical course traipsing through the craggy alps, the 90K du Mont-Blanc is a true mountain test piece of Chamonix. “What It Takes” provides the more mainstream viewer with an authentic glimpse of what an ultramarathon is all about, the importance of the support crew, and the strategy needed to win.
